The start of a new year brings more than optimism. It brings clarity — a chance to decide not just what kind of progress a region wants to see, but how intentionally it will pursue it. For the San Antonio region, this January marks exactly that moment.
As we enter 2026, greater:SATX is launching a new regional economic development plan — MOMENTUM:2030 — grounded in a simple but important understanding: progress does not sustain itself. Economies that continue to advance are those that treat momentum as something to be led, aligned, and managed. San Antonio is not standing still. Together, we are choosing to move forward with purpose.
The past five years offer clear proof of what focused regional leadership can deliver. Through the All In strategy, greater:SATX helped bring together employers, educators, elected leaders, and community partners around a shared agenda. The result was meaningful progress — positioning San Antonio among national leaders in job growth, wage growth, and gains in educational attainment. These outcomes were not accidental. They were the product of coordination, partnership, and sustained effort across the region.
But momentum is not a destination. It is a condition that must be maintained
MOMENTUM:2030 reflects that reality. It is our regional plan to build on what is working, sharpen where focus is needed, and ensure that economic growth translates into broader prosperity and economic mobility. In a global economy defined by speed, scale, and constant disruption, sustained competitiveness requires discipline as much as ambition.
Our MOMENTUM:2030 strategy focuses on three key strategies to drive regional prosperity and economic mobility:
- We will keep leading job growth aligned with our core mission. We will provide regional leadership and demonstrate national excellence in the pursuit of job-producing investments from quality employers.
- By investing in our people and our place, we will build on our All In strategy, partnering with our educational and workforce leaders, and our community partners, to support investments that are necessary to economic competitiveness.
- To empower the modern economy, we will work to enable our region to confront unforeseen challenges, seize economic opportunities, and influence shared objectives that set us up for success not just in the next 5 years but for decades to come.
This framework reflects a simple truth seen in successful regions around the world: job growth follows preparedness, and preparedness depends on alignment. As higher-paying industries have taken root in San Antonio, wages have grown by more than 12.5% -- the fastest rate among the nation’s largest metros — signaling a shift not just in scale, but in its substance.
Just as importantly, MOMENTUM:2030 is not a document meant to mark an endpoint. It is a commitment to action.
Activation begins now. In the year ahead, greater:SATX will continue convening partners, advancing workforce and site-readiness initiatives, supporting air service expansion, and helping align infrastructure investments critical to long-term competitiveness. We will also continue telling the San Antonio story clearly and consistently — ensuring external perception keeps pace with internal progress.
This momentum is regional and built through partnership. But it requires leadership — the kind that brings people together, keeps focus on shared goals, and helps the region move faster and further than any one entity could alone. That is the role greater:SATX is proud to play every day.
MOMENTUM:2030 reflects confidence, not complacency. It recognizes that San Antonio’s progress is real — and that the responsibility now is to steward that progress intentionally, together, so opportunity continues to expand and the region’s best days remain ahead.
